Will this set off my smoke detector/fire alarm?

No. Its insence. Can't have movement or the flow is interrupted. Cool though

What is the scent of the pack of 10cones it comes with? I can’t place the scent

More of a floral scent on some. People have commented the others smell like something is burning. Not bad, but I would love some more patchouli or nag champa options for back flow

Yes

Can you use any kind of incense cones?

You can use regular cones on this but they will not give the waterfall effect, for the full effect you will need to use backflow cones. These cone will have a hole going from the base to almost the tip.

How do you get the smoke to flow?

Make sure you get the type of incense that has a hole in the bottom. Light the top and position the hole in the incense over the hole in the ceramic and after a minute or two it should flow.

how long does one incense cone last for?

About 15-20 minutes.

What is the scent of the incense? Can I buy it separately?

not sure but could be sandalwood scent and if you want to by the incense seperatly yes as for the burner not sure i believe you could but they do send a sample with them.

How strong are the incenses?

The ones that come with it are very fragrant. Can smell through out the house.
